Elementary Math

Our informative and entertaining classes on math and logic are conducted one-on-one or in small groups (up to 6 students) by highly qualified and experienced teachers having a Bachelor’s or  Master’s degree. All classes meet the State common core requirements and are enriched with challenging tasks and problems based on the Common Core Standards and Russian methodology.

Kindergarten

The objective of these classes is to prepare your children for the 1st grade by developing their math abilities, cognitive skills, logic, visual memory, motor skills and creativity through exciting learning games, tricky puzzles and funny problems. At the lessons kids have lots of fun, and it may never occur to them that all the activities they are involved in, are proven to challenge their minds, review the math material they have already learned and introduce them to new math topics.

• Colors
• Shapes (square, rectangle, circle and triangle)
• Size
• Sorting by color, shape and size
• Money
• Comparison
• Numerals 1-20
• Counting to 20
• Subtracting
• Patterns
• Logic and word problems

The first grade math program is a great way to help your kids to succeed at school and to develop their visual memory, logic, special sense and other mental abilities. Besides arithmetic, we introduce children to elementary algebra and geometry.

At these fun yet challenging classes, students will work on the following topics:

• Comparison
• Fractions (halves, thirds and fourths)
• Time and clocks
• Money
• Various patterns
• Weight
• Metric measurements
• Position and spatial relationships (left-right, up-down; top, middle, inside)
• Line and segments
• Perimeter
• Congruent shapes
• Line of symmetry
• Algebraic symbols
• Logic and word problems

The second grade math classes can be a great addition to school math, as they will not only help children to learn and understand the material, but will also develop their learning habits, math skills and logic.

The classes will cover the following topics:

• Numbers 1- 1000
• Odd and even numbers
• Rounding and estimation
• Whole numbers and fractions

• Time and clocks
• Straight and curved lines
• Lines, segments and rays
• Angles
• Parallel and perpendicular lines
• Vertical and horizontal lines of symmetry
• Perimeter and Area
• Measurements in metric and customary units (length and weight)
• Temperature
• Graphing
• Probability
• Logic and word problems

Our after-school classes for third-graders offer lots of exciting math activities developing logic, abstract thinking and spatial sense.

The topics covered during the school year are the following:

• Multiplication

Our after-school program for fourth-graders is aimed at serious math skill development. During the lessons, we will guide them through number theory, problem-solving, basic algebra, systems of measurement, data interpretation, geometry, graphing and probability using interactive and engaging activities.

The program covers the following topics:

• Addition and subtraction of large numbers (3, 4, 5 and 6 digit numbers)
• Multiplication and division of multi digit numbers
• Fractions
• Decimals
• Estimation and rounding
• Money and time problems
• Pictorial and number patterns
